this is my first time submitting work that is not Artisan Craft...or is it?
final project for an art course to create our own world/life in a box.
materials used:
-magazine
-foam board
-clock arms, etc.
-scrap book paper
On of the box is a clock, which represents time (time is really important, but we sometimes unconsciously neglect the value of it and waste it). The clock can actually work with batteries inserted under the lid of the box, but it doesn't work properly...
On the front is an old-fashioned door (grandfather's clock) which is the "entrance" to my world. People who don't know me thinks I am quiet and mysterious, but for others who knows me, I am almost totally opposite: cheerful, optimistic, and naive.
The other three sides around the box represents different important aspects in my life:
career: my dream of initially wanting to become a fashion designer (outside box: scissors + table) has changed to becoming an interior designer (inside box: light blue wall w/ shelves and a woodenbox) since I realize it's too hard to become one, though interior design might not be as simple either.
family: the two trees on the inside and outside both represents my family tree, one from my mom's side and the other from my dad's side (the red/green dots on the trees represent each family member). The 4 hearts floating in the sky represents my passed-away grandparents.
education: the stacks of books and staircase represents my struggle with school in trying to do well from the pressure of parents and my future. (Everyone has to "compete" with others in becoming better in what they do, causing lots of distress). The floating clocks again represents the use of time (time flies fast and when we waste it, there's no turning back).
